It’s the oldest entirely steam-powered cog railway in Europe (built in 1886) and runs between Jenbach and Seespitz from 1 May to 2 November every year. The journey with the historic steam trains, which cover a route with a 16% incline, is absolutely fascinating and a unique experience for all ages.

We also recommend you enjoy a ride on the Karwendel cable car. It transports you directly from Pertisau to 1,500 metres above sea level. Once you’ve arrived at the mountain station, you have so many options to choose from: hiking, biking, paragliding, or simply sitting back and soaking up the sun.

The Sixerhof is a typical Tyrolean farm, where visitors can get an insight into the lives and work of Tyroleans in bygone days. In 21 rooms spread over three floors, farming equipment and handicraft tools, a blacksmith’s workshop, shoemaking facility, a weaver’s workshop, and items used for hunting and fishing are on display.

Since 1998, Franz Kostenzer has dedicated himself to all kinds of spirits in his distillery. There are 70 different kinds for you to try here, from classic Obstler fruit brandy to Alpine whiskey.

In the Lake Achensee Museum World, an impressive collection of antique tractors awaits you in an 800m² space. It also includes the private collection of Ernst Derfeser, which contains around 26 exhibits. Another highlight of the tractor museum is the stern of the old Lake Achensee steamer “Stadt Innsbruck”, which was saved from being scrapped.
